Japanese Grammar ~ Yori (~ より) has meaning "than ; more than".
Formation [接続]
Noun/Verb-phrase + より + adj
例文
東京は大阪より大きいです。
Toukyou wa oosaka yori ookii desu.
Tokyo is bigger than Osaka.
今朝は昨日の朝より寒いです。
Kesa wa kinou no asa yori samui desu.
It was colder this morning than yesterday morning.
弟はわたしより頭がいいです。
Otouto wa watashi yori atama ga ii desu.
My little brother is smarter than me.
人の命は何より大切です。
Hito no inochi wa nani yori taisetsu desu.
A person’s life is more important than anything else.
建物の中はいつもより暗かった。
Tatemono no naka wa itsumo yori kurakatta.
The building was darker than usual.
漢字はひらがなやかたかなより難しいです。
Kanji wa hiragana ya katakana yori muzukashii.
Kanji is more difficult than Hiragana and Katakana.
